What fits in a 30-yard dumpster?
A 30-yard dumpster holds about 10–15 pickup-truck loads. We recommend this size for large construction sites or home additions. Typical 30-yard jobs include a home addition, new-build framing or a large construction job or a full estate or rental turnover with furniture. These are typical fits, not guarantees.

- A home addition, new-build framing or a large construction job
- A full estate or rental turnover with furniture
- A single-layer roof up to about 33 squares
- A multi-room remodel with flooring, drywall and cabinets

How heavy can a 30-yard dumpster get?
A 30-yard dumpster includes 4 tons, or 8,000 pounds. Bulky, light debris such as household junk or lumber rarely reaches it. Mixed construction debris can: at the EPA average of 417 pounds per cubic yard, a full 30-yard weighs about 6.3 tons, about 2.3 tons over.
At $75 per ton, 2.3 tons over adds about $172. If your debris is dense, two 20-yard hauls or a mid-job swap can cost less than one overweight 30-yard. Call and we will run the numbers with you.
Concrete, dirt, brick and sand never go in a 30-yard. Use a 10 or 15-yard for those.
Estimate from EPA average material weights. Your scale ticket sets the real number.
Is a 30-yard too small or too big for my job?
The 20-yard has the same length and width but 2 ft less wall and 1 ton less included. For bulky but light loads, the 30-yard saves a second haul. For dense loads, it can fill its weight before it fills its space. Too big means paying for space you leave empty.
What does a 30 yard dumpster rental cost in total?
A 30-yard dumpster costs one flat base price that covers delivery, pickup, 7 days and 4 tons. Your total changes only if you go over 4 tons ($75 per ton, by the pound), keep it past 7 days ($25 per day), or add a mattress, tire or Freon appliance ($50 each).
Here is how the example works. The ticket shows 4.30 tons net. That is 0.30 tons over the 4 included tons. 0.30 × $75 = $22.50.

30-yard dumpster questions
What is a 30-yard dumpster used for?
Our 30-yard dumpster is built for large construction sites, home additions, new builds and whole-property cleanouts. It holds roughly 10 to 15 pickup-truck loads.
How tall are the walls on a 30-yard dumpster?
The walls are 6 ft tall. Use the rear door to walk in furniture and heavy items, and keep the top of the load level with the rim.
Does a 30-yard need more driveway than a 20-yard?
It needs the same space. Both are 22 ft long and 8 ft wide. The 30-yard is only taller, so it needs the same space and the same truck approach.
Can a 30-yard dumpster go on a construction site with no driveway?
It can go on firm, level ground such as packed base or gravel. Avoid soft or wet soil, which the truck and the loaded dumpster can sink into after rain.
